Welcome to the Sun Mountain Community School Foundation

We are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the learning experience for the Sun Mountain Community School and its members.

The mission of the Sun Mountain School Foundation is:

1. Primarily, to maintain and improve its land and facilities; and, secondarily,

2. To the extent fiscally reasonable, support the Sun Mountain Community School, its ancillary programs, other significant educational needs and its community.

• For K-8th grade, visit Sun Mountain Community School, a Waldorf-Inspired public charter school entering a second year of operations. SMCS accepts enrollment inquires and lottery applications for K-4th & 6th grade on an on-going basis.

Early Childhood Update

As of June 1, 2026 our independent, Pre-K program as well as our Parent & Tots classes have been closed and will not resume in the fall. SMCS leadership is working closely with the Early Childhood care providers and the state of NM to be able to provide opportunities for these groups under the school’s charter.
